About Us

Commitment to providing a quality environment for doctors to practice high quality care.

For over forty years, health and support staff at Lyttleton St Medical Clinic have been providing excellent medical care to the people of Castlemaine and the surrounding districts. In 2020 Goldfields Medical Group was created to provide a service where doctors can work to serve the community and continue providing high quality medical care.

Goldfields Medical Group is locally owned.

The doctors provide individualised healthcare and medical advice across a lifetime; from pre-conception to palliative or geriatric care.

The doctors and nurses support patients in managing such conditions as chronic diseases, suspicious skin spots, mental health and family planning.

The doctors provide comprehensive advice on travel health, sexual health and workplace medical assessments.

Commitment To Hospital Care

The doctors provide urgent care services with Dhelkaya Health along with inpatient services.

Several doctors provide a range of maternity services including GP-Obstetrician supported birthing.

They also continue to support  patients as residents in aged care settings.

Melbourne Pathology operates an onsite collection service in the Lyttleton St clinic.

Commitment To Community

In addition to providing excellent health care, the doctors are committed to being a part of a healthy and connected community. Our staff and the doctors practicing here participate and volunteer with a large number of local organisations.

The Dancing Doctor (AKA Mullet Man)
Dr Richard Mayes believes that joy is often the best medicine.

You can find him dancing up storm and inspiring others in a flash mob, or at a local dance studio, running amok in the Silver Top Dance Therapy classes.

Catch his story on The Project.

Commitment To Education

Part of being a doctor is being committed to training the next generation of rural medical doctors.

We provide services to General Practitioners and Rural Generalists supporting registrars who have chosen to specialise in rural general health.

You will also meet Medical Students from Monash University as well as John Flynn Scholars.
